The New York Marathon will take place on Sunday, November 7, 2021, after a one-year suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The New York Marathon is the largest marathon in the world, and this year’s field has been limited to 33,000 runners due to health and safety concerns. The runners will start in five waves. Riders are required to wear masks when in crowded start areas.
The runners will cross the five arrondissements of New York City throughout their 26.2 mile run. They start at Staten Island at Verrazzano Bridge before heading to Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx before turning back and ending up in Manhattan. The finish line is located in Central Park.
You can follow the competitors in real time on the TCS New York Marathon app, the official racing app.
Track runners are also available on Liveresults.nyrr.org.
For health and safety reasons there are three courses that competitors will use between the start and Mile 8. The courses are right next door, so it’s a fair race for all participants.
In 2019, Geoffrey Kamworor from Kenya finished first in the men’s division with a time of 2:08:13. Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya won the women’s division in 2:22:38.
