Bayern Munich sign former Golden Eaglets star

FC Bayern have completed the signing of Nigerian Daniel Francis from academy team FC Hearts Abuja.

The transfer was made public via the club’s website on Thursday evening, after the player passed his medical.

The 18-year-old has signed a three-year deal with the Bavarians and will spend the 2022/23 season on loan at Austrian Bundesliga side Austria Klagenfurt.

According to FC Bayern Campus manager Jochen Sauerd, Francis got a professional contract through FC Bayern’s World Squad project.

“Daniel stood out during his time in the FC Bayern world team and really stood out in the friendlies.

“He has attracted interest from other clubs, so we are delighted to have signed him and that he can now gain match experience at Austria Klagenfurt.”

The FC Bayern World Squad project took place for the second time this year, giving 24 young players from around the world the chance to prove themselves.

Francis received the team’s captain’s armband due to his leadership qualities.

During training camps in Rio de Janeiro and Munich as well as in friendlies, he impressed the coaching staff led by Bayern legends Klaus Augenthaler and Ze Roberto.
