Mikayla Farris, a senior track and field star from Eastern High School, has been invited to represent Ohio on the 2018 Down Under Sports track team. Farris plans to move to Queensland, Australia, the Sunday July 8 to compete for individual honors and a team championship title. Each participant must raise funds to cover the cost of the trip, and Farris is currently fundraising, which is an important step towards achieving the goal of competing on the international stage. Farris will participate in both the shot put and the discus throw during his stay in Australia. âI was more than excited when I got the letter,â Farris said of her invitation from Down Under Sports. “It was funny, because I actually mentioned something to mom a few months before I got the letter to go to Australiaâ¦ if that was the only place in the world I could go for the rest of my life. , I would. And the fact that I’ll be competing for maybe the last time doing something I love, that makes it even better. Farris was a multisport star at Eastern High School, not only excelling in athletics, but also basketball and volleyball; winning Southern Hills Athletic Conference honors during high school career.
