Hard blow for Jamilu Collins

Major injury for Jamilu Collins

Cardiff City boss Steve Morrison has confirmed Super Eagles defender Jamilu Collins will no longer be available for selection this season.

Collins was substituted against West Brom on Thursday after picking up the injury in the first half.

Speaking at the press conference ahead of the weekend game, Morrison said analysis revealed the player had suffered serious damage and would be out for the remainder of the season.

“We won’t see him again until next season. It’s disgusting for the boy, really disgusting,” the Cardiff manager said.

“We are all here for him. We are going to make next year the best possible for him.

“It’s the worst case scenario. The plan will be to bring him back for pre-season next year. The only thing we know when he returns for pre-season, we’ll have one hell of a left-back.

“It’s something everyone can look forward to next season.”

Morison has described Collins as the “best left-back” in the Championship and expects him to come back stronger, with help from his teammates.

“He’s a great lad who comes in every day with a smile on his face. He loved working with us every day and we loved working with him. He’s someone you want around. He’s contagious.

“As soon as he gets his surgery and starts to be a bit more mobile, he’ll be with the guys,” he concluded.
