LOS ANGELES (AP) – The UCLA No.5 men’s basketball home games against No.6 Arizona on December 30 and Arizona State on January 1 have been postponed due to an ongoing COVID-19 epidemic within the program. The Bruins haven’t played since a Dec. 11 win at Marquette. Five games have been called off and the team’s activities remain on hiatus. Rescheduled Arizona and Arizona State game dates will be announced when finalized with the Pac-12 conference. Elsewhere, Maryland’s game against state opponent Loyola has been called off due to COVID-19 concerns within the Loyola program.

STORRS, Connecticut (AP) – While many varsity athletes have taken advantage of recent rules allowing them to make money through the use of their names, pictures and likenesses, one group has been left out – international athletes . Most of the more than 3,000 foreign nationals who play sports in Division I schools are in the country on F-1 student visas, which prohibit working off-campus except in rare circumstances, such as internships. US Senator Chris Murphy is among lawmakers supporting a change in visa laws that would create an exclusion for student-athletes.
