High school sports: Central Square athletes honored with senior awards | High school sports


CENTRAL SQUARE – Even though the 2021 sports season was not the typical sports program that athletes, coaches and spectators are used to, the sports department at Paul V. Moore High School ensured that the students- athletes are recognized for their years of hard work. and dedication.

A ceremony was held outside the school‘s athletics stadium for parents and the winners. Each athlete was introduced by the staff, followed by an explanation of why they were chosen for the award by their respective coaches.

“I am so proud of each of these student-athletes sitting here,” said Jim Drancsak, director of health, physical education and athletics, addressing the recipients. “Their persistence throughout all of the changes and regulations this year proves their dedication to athletics and academics.”

The following students received awards: Camryn Humphrey, Jennifer Gasser, Elizabeth Kincaid and Ethan Westfall received the Coaches Award. Emily Schlueter and Marty Rogers received the Sportsmanship Awards. Lauren Scheuer and Jonathan Clarke received the academic awards. Brianna Basile and Derek Schumaker received the most competitive awards. Braden Godici and Jillian Howe were honored for their Section III Fellowship Athlete Awards. Julia Mann and Jake Moran received the Most Outstanding Athlete Award.

Drancsak was also honored for his five years of service as director of health, physical education and athletics in Central Square. He will retire from the district at the end of the school year.
