Staten Island, New York – Farmingdale State indoor track and field teams competed in the Fastrack National Invitational Friday at the Ocean Breeze Park Athletics Complex in Staten Island, New York.
Sophomore Morris Johnson (Binghamton, NY) led the way for the men with a fifth-place finish out of 80 competitors in the 60m with a time of 7.22. Johnson was the event’s top Division III finisher.
In the mile, junior Matthew Calogianes (Deer Park, NY) was 25th in 4:44.95, while rookie Daniel Catano (Deer Park, NY) was 37th in 5:00.08.
Sophomore Joseph Stocken VI (Miller Place, NY) finished 12th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.44 to lead Team FSC.
In the long jump, rookie Jovany Philippe (Huntington, NY) landed 10th out of 53 with a jump of 6.48m (21′ 3.25″).
On the women’s side, freshman Khadia Jenkins (Farmingdale, NY) and junior Emily Russell (Southold, NY) each finished tied for third out of 22 competitors in the high jump with jumps of 1.50m (4′ 11″).
In the mile, sophomore Alycia Haynes (Adams Center, NY) took fourth place with a personal best 5:35.83. Haynes now sits sixth on FSC’s all-time list.
Jenkins also posted a 14th-place finish of 57 in the shot put with a personal best 38’4.25″ (11.69m). His mark is Farmingdale State’s third best all-time in the shot put.
The Rams will next compete in the NJAC Championships at Ocean Breeze on Monday, February 21.
