Men’s and women’s athletics ranked No. 3


AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas men’s and women’s track programs entered the second week of the indoor season at No. 3, as reported by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

On the men’s side, the Longhorns hold eight top 10 finishes in the NCAA this season. Tripp Piperi still holds the No. 2 shot put effort at 20.99m / 68-10.5. Carozza pencil (800m/1:48/40) and Leo Neugebauer (heptathlon/6021 pts) posted 3rd place in their respective events.

The men also have the No. 6 4×400 relay time (3:05.21) and DMR at 9:37.58.

The women were also ranked No. 3 with seven top-10 performances this season, highlighted by two NCAA leading scores. Julian Alfred still holds the fastest 60m sprint time at 7.12 seconds, while by Kristine Blazevica The performance of the pentathlon over the weekend ranks first after breaking the Texas program record with 4,402 points.

Kynnedy Flannel and Kennedy-Simon both are fifth in the 200 and 400m, while Simon’s relay team, Stacey Ann Williams, Milan Young and Rhasidat Adeleke has the fifth fastest time at 3:31.70.

The Longhorns will compete in both the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque and the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina this weekend February 4-5.
